Terms of service

Last updated: [date]

1. Who we are

Known Roads is run by [legal business name], a [sole proprietorship / private limited company] registered in India at [registered address] ("we", "us"). These terms apply when you use our website or request, buy or use a plan.

2. What we provide

We connect travellers with independent mentors who give trip-planning advice and support remotely, by video call on Google Meet and by email or messaging. Depending on your plan, this includes a planning call, written notes, follow-up questions by email or WhatsApp and, on On-Call plans, WhatsApp support during the covered days. You choose whether to share your phone number with your mentor.

We are not a travel agent, tour operator or tour guide. We do not book transport, accommodation or activities, and mentors do not meet travellers in person.

3. Mentors

Mentors are independent people, not our employees. We verify their identity, interview them and go through their travel history with them before they join. We do not run criminal background checks on mentors. Their advice is based on their own experience. We can't guarantee that every recommendation will suit you or that conditions such as prices, timetables or rules won't change.

You remain responsible for your own decisions and bookings, and for your visa, permits, insurance, health and safety while travelling.

4. Requests, acceptance and payment

  • When you send a request, a mentor reviews it and decides whether to accept. A request is not a booking.
  • Once a mentor accepts, we send you a payment link. Your plan is confirmed when payment is received.
  • Payments are processed by third-party payment providers such as [Razorpay / PayPal]. We do not see or store your full card details.
  • Prices are shown on the website. [State whether prices include GST or other taxes.]

5. Cancellations and refunds

Cancellations and refunds are covered by our refund and cancellation policy.

6. Using the service fairly

  • Give accurate information about your trip and treat your mentor with respect.
  • Don't ask mentors to meet in person, arrange services for you, or accept payment outside your plan.
  • Don't use the service for anything illegal or harmful.

We may cancel a plan, with a refund for any unused part, if these rules are broken. Please report any concern about a mentor to us straight away.

7. Not an emergency service

Mentors are not available around the clock and cannot provide emergency, medical, legal or security help. In an emergency in India, call 112.

8. Our liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any plan is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not responsible for services you book with third parties, or for indirect losses such as missed connections or extra travel costs. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be limited.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version on this page when you pay for a plan applies to that plan.

10. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are subject to the courts at [city], without affecting any right you have to bring a claim where you live.

11. Contact and grievances

Email . Our grievance officer is [name], reachable at [email]. We acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within [30] days.
